The gloves are off, the chili pots are on, and the competition is heating up! 🔥
Join the City of Deer Park for the Battle of the Badges Chili Cook-Off, where our Police and Fire Departments go head-to-head to prove who really brings the heat! Will the police serve up a recipe that arrests your taste buds, or will the firefighters extinguish the competition with their fiery flavor? There's only one way to find out!
Both departments are cooking for more than just bragging rights- they're battling it out for the coveted Battle of the Badges Chili Cook-Off Trophy! 🏆 Only one department will take home the trophy, so every vote counts!
Bring the whole family for an evening of friendly rivalry, delicious chili, and festive fun! Taste the entries and vote for your favorite chili to help crown the champion!
🌶️Event Details
* When: Saturday, November 21, 2026, from 4:00-8:00 PM
* Where: Deer Park-Silverton Fire Department 7050 Blue Ash Rd.
* Admission: $5 per person or $10 per family
*Food: Chili, hotdogs, and other food items will be available.
* Split the Pot: Try your luck while supporting a great cause!

*🎨 Free Face Painting for the kids!
* 💌 Letters to Santa- write those holiday wishes straight to the North Pole!
* 🍵 Free Hot Cocoa and Cider to keep everyone warm and in the holiday spirit!

All proceeds from the event will benefit Shop with a Hero, helping bring joy to local children and families.
So come hungry, bring your competitive spirit, and help us settle the age-old question: Who serves up the best heat- the boys in blue or the heroes in red?

Calling all ghosts, goblins, witches, superheroes, and tiny candy collectors! Get those costumes ready. Whether you're handing out treats or heading out with your little monsters, let's make this Halloween spooky, sweet, and safe for everyone!
🎃Event Details:
* Date: Saturday, October 31,2026
*Time: 6:00-8:00 p.m.
*Location: Throughout residential neighborhoods in Deer Park.
👻 Safety Tips for Trick-or-Treaters
* 🚶➡️Walk on sidewalks: Stay on sidewalk or walk facing traffic if there are no sidewalks.
* 🎃 Be Visible: Wear bright costumes, add reflective tape to costumes so drivers can see you.
*🔦 Light up the night: Carry a flashlight or glow sticks to help see where you're going.
* 🏡Stick to familiar places: Visit well-lit homes, stay with your group, and make sure a trusted adult is with you or knows your route.
* 🍬Check Treats: Have an adult inspect all candy before eating, and maybe share a piece with them😋
🧟 For Parents and Grown-Up Goblins:
* 🚗 Drive like a vampire is watching: Slow down, stay alert, and watch carefully for children.
* 🐈⬛ Keep pets secure: Costumes, doorbells, and excited trick-or-treaters can be a lot for our four-legged friends.
* 🕷️ Keep walkways clear: Make sure porches, steps, and sidewalks are well-lit and free of spooky tripping hazards.

In Remembrance of John Applegate ❤
The City of Deer Park mourns the loss of John Applegate and remembers him with heartfelt gratitude for his 32 years of dedicated service as our City Auditor.
For more than 3 decades, John was an important part of our city's history and the team that helps keep Deer Park running. His years of service represent a tremendous commitment to our community, and we are deeply grateful for the time, dedication, and care he gave to the city he served.
Thirty-two years is more than a career; it is a lasting legacy of service to the people and community of Deer Park. John's contributions will not be forgotten, and he will always hold a special place in our city's story.
On behalf of the City of Deer Park, we extend our heartfelt condolences to John's family, friends, colleagues, and all who had the privelege of knowing him. We hope they find comfort in knowing how much his years of service meant to our community.
Thank you, John, for 32 years of commitment to the City of Deer Park. We are grateful for your service, and you will be remembered with respect, appreciation, and fondness.

Get Ready for a Spooktacular Weekend!
Get in the Halloween spirit and join the City of Deer Park's annual BOO FEST! This fun filled Halloween celebration brings the community together for a weekend of spooky, fun, family activities, and, of course, plenty of scares!
📅 Friday, October 9 - 6:00-10:00 PM
📅 Saturday, October 10th - 6:00-10:00 PM
🧟 Zombie Trail may continue until 11:00 PM - HARD STOP at 11:00 PM
🎃BOO FEST FUN!
Boo Fest will feature:
- 🎃 Pumpkin Decorating
- 🕸️ Games and activities for children
- 🍔 Food and drink concessions, available while supplies last
- 🎵 Live Entertainment - Band performances BOTH nights!
- 🧟 Zombie Trail
👻 Psycho-Path Haunted Trail-🎟️A ticket is required to walk the haunted trail and will be available for purchase on-site.
The highlight of Boo Fest is our Psycho-Path Haunted Trail, created and operated by our amazing community volunteers dressed in costume and ready to have some fun scaring our brave visitors!
The trail offers different levels of fright, so there is something for nearly everyone.
Bringing little ones? We recommend coming early for the Lights-On Edition, designed for younger children and adults. Consider yourself warned- we've seen adults come out crying! 😱 PLEASE REMEMBER: for everyone's safety and enjoyment, do not touch the characters or vounteers along the trail.
Come early, come dressed up, and come prepared to be scared!

Please join the City of Deer Park on Friday, September 11, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. as we come together to remember and honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001. The event will take place at the Municipal Building, at the 9/11 Memorial.
