Projects Under Way or Recently Completed

  • In September 2013, the city adopted a 10 year, 100% CRA (Community Reinvestment Area) agreement with Sabino Properties, Inc. for the acquisition and renovation of a vacant building at 4116 Webster Avenue for use as the facilities for Deer Park Roofing. More than $I.2 million was invested in the new project resulting in the retention of 30 existing jobs in Deer Park with an annual payroll of $I.6 million, and the creation of 20 new jobs with an annual payroll of approximately $800,000. 
  • Queen City Spirit, providing customized school spirit wear for schools across the Cincinnati region, will be moving their operations to Blue Ash Road in the building formerly occupied by Kenwood Pool & Spas.  
  • Barresi’s Restaurant was recently purchased by Cincinnati Capital Corporation, however, plans for development have not been announced yet.   
  • Wexford Care Center is investing 2.5 million in a Deer Park nursing facility.  Located in Deer Park, just 1.3 miles from Jewish Hospital of Kenwood, Wexford Care Center (formerly East Galbraith Nursing Home) is a 239-bed long-term and post-acute rehabilitative skilled nursing facility.  Premier Health Care Management recently took over this building in mid-2017 with a primary goal of delivering 5-star quality service to our residents.  Wexford has begun renovation on the property that will greatly enhance living quarters and social spaces for their residents by adding more private rooms and activity spaces. “We are excited to grow with the building and maintain our focus on ensuring all residents receive optimal care.” 
  • After months of community conversations and door-to-door canvassing regarding facility needs, the Deer Park Community City School District bond levy passed in November 2016. The $25 million bond issue will renovate and place an addition onto Amity Elementary making it a 21st Century K-6 building. The school will remain open during the duration of the project.  The project will include, Classroom renovations, ADA compliant entrances and elevators, a new gym and stage, and a new and safe front entrance on the side of the school. 
  • In the fall 2017 work began on street repairs. An Onyx road surface treatment was applied to 7 streets, Matson Avenue, Gail Drive, Frontenac Avenue, Colton Lane, Monterey Avenue, Quarter Maine Avenue and Irwin Avenue.  This treatment extends the life of the pavement and minimizes future costs related to road repair. 
  • In 2018, 19 more streets will receive this Onxy treatment. Six additional streets will have more extensive repairs done.  They are Oakwood Avenue, Dearborn Avenue, St. John’s Terrace, Delaware Avenue, Virginia Avenue and Maryland Avenue.  The cost of all of these repairs is estimated to be $186,750, made possible by the passage of the Street Levy in November, 2016.
