Councilperson At Large, Shaughn Daily

President of Council, Shaughn Daily


Shaughn is an 18 year resident of Deer Park and is currently serving as a President of Council. He and his wife Dianne, have been married for 18 years and they have a 16 year old son Daniel, who attends Deer Park High School.

As a member of the Deer Park Park Board, Shaughn organized the "Cars in the Park" Car Show. He was a volunteer Firefighter/EMT for the Miami Township Fire Department and has served as President of the Miami Heights Volunteer Firemen's Association and has chaired their annual Firemen's Festival.

Shaughn is a licensed optician and works at Target Optical.  He is also a licensed auctioneer and a real estate agent. Shaughn and his family are very involved with the Deer Park City Schools, the American Heart Association and the American Cancer Society's "Relay for Life" events.

Councilperson Ward 1, Lori Newsom

Lori is serving her fourth year as Ward One Representative and is a member of the the Safety Committee. She is a graduate of The Ohio State University and a lifelong Buckeye fan.

She began her career in retailing, moved on to sales and marketing and has been a licensed Realtor for the past 30 years. 

Lori has two sons and two grandsons who also live here in Deer Park and they are the joy of her life. She volunteers with local charities that feed hungry children and went on a mission trip to South Africa.

Lori feels greatly blessed to live in a neighborhood like Deer Park and just wants to do what she can to continue our wonderful sense of community.

Mike has been a resident of Deer Park for over 40 years. He is a graduate of Moeller High School and attended the University of Cincinnati College of Applied Science.

Mike and his wife Debbie have three children and reside on MacNicholas Ave.

Mike is currently serving on city council as the Ward 2 Representative and is Chair of the Public Works Committee.

A Cleveland native, Emily moved to Cincinnati to pursue a Master's degree in Anthropology. She graduated in 2011 from the University of Cincinnati and moved to Deer Park in 2015. 

Emily and her husband own a small archaeology consulting firm. They travel throughout the eastern United States, but, she says, they have not yet found any dinosaur bones!

Emily volunteers at the Deer Park Branch Library.  She is the Council Representative for Ward 3 and is currently serving on the Public Works Committee. 

Councilperson Ward 4, Chris Hedger

Shawn has been a resident of Deer Park for over 30 years.  He and his wife, Catherine, have 3 children, all graduates of Deer Park High School.  Proud grandparents to 9 grandchildren, 4 of them are attending Deer Park City Schools.  

In 2004, Shawn was appointed to the Deer Park Park Board and over the years served in a variety of roles from concession stand volunteer, to Treasurer of the Park Board, to Chair of the Days in the Park Festival.

In 2008, Shawn was appointed to the Comprehensive Plan Committee, now known as the 2030 Plan.

Wanting to become more involved with the revitalization efforts of the City, he ran for Council in 2009 and was elected to a 2 year term.

In 2018, Shawn was again elected to Council and currently serves as the Representative in Ward 4.  He is looking forward to helping the city move forward with it's redevelopment efforts.

Charles Tassell is currently serving as a Council at Large Representative. He is Chairman of the Legislative & Finance Committee and serves as Council's representative to the OKI Regional Council of Governments. 

Charles is the Chief Operating Officer for the National Real Estate Investors Association and consults for regional and local organizations, as well as developers.  He has been working on public policies for the past 25 years, and has advised policy development for dozens of municipalities, counties, and states, including authoring several pieces of legislation ranging from housing to economic development, to fair housing and environmental issues.  He also serves on several regional, state, and national boards. 

Charles is a Managing Member in a real estate development group owning several apartment buildings.  He founded the non-profit Street Rescue in 2015, and is currently serving as an Elder at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church.

Charles has been married to Regina Tassell for 27 years and has three children: CJ, Regan, and Eliza.

Dan is a long time resident of the City of Deer Park. He grew up here and attended Deer Park Jr./Sr. High School.  He is currently serving as Councilperson at Large and serves on the Public Works and Safety Committees, and is Council's Representative to the Deer Park - Silverton Joint Fire District and the Deer Park Park Board. 

Dan has served the city of Deer Park and its residents in a variety of positions over the years.  He served on the Planning and Zoning Commission for 3 years prior to being appointed to City Council.  Dan was also a part-time Dispatcher for the Deer Park Police and Fire Departments.

In the 80's Dan was a volunteer Firefighter and EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) achieving the rank of Lieutenant before he left the Department.

Dan and his wife Lisa have been married for 32 years and they reside on Oakwood Avenue. They have 3 grown children and 5 grandchildren. Dan coached knothole and softball while his children were growing up and served as a board member of The Deer Park/Silverton Girls Softball League.

Dan currently works for Sycamore Township in the Maintenance Department.

Tom is a lifelong resident of Deer Park and graduated from Deer Park High School in 1973.  His father, J. Henry Camp, served as Safety Service Director for Deer Park from 1959 to 1975 and his mother, Helen R. Camp, served on Council in Deer Park for 12 years.   

He is a 45+ year member of the Deer Park/Silverton Joint Fire District, and proudly served 10 of those years as the Fire Chief and is currently serving as the part time Deputy Fire Chief.  Tom has been a member of the Hamilton County Fire Chiefs Asso. since 1989, and served as Vice President for 4 years.  He is founder and former owner of Camp Safety Equipment Inc.

Tom served as Chairman of Deer Park Civil Service Commission, was EMA Director, Chair of the DP World Trade Center 911 Memorial Committee, and is a member of the Community Improvement Corporation (CIC), and the Comprehensive Plan committee.

A longtime member of St. Saviour Catholic Church, Tom and his wife Patricia (Keller) have 2 children, Emily (Donald) and Christopher (Meredith) and 4.5 grandchildren. Every chance they get they enjoy traveling in their motorhome.

Joanie is beginning her fifth year as Clerk of Council.  She grew up in Deer Park and graduated from Deer Park High School in 1989.  In 2004, Joanie moved back to Deer Park to raise her daughter who will be graduating from Deer Park High School this year. 

Joanie has worked in both customer service and in the medical field for over 20 years.  She is happily engaged to David Lewis and they plan to wed in 2019. 

Several years ago Joanie began volunteering at the Days in the Park Festival under the leadership of her late brother, former Deer Park City Councilman John Perin Jr. Joanie expresses the importance of carrying on John’s legacy of service to the City of Deer Park. “I’m with them”, she said, “because that’s where we’re from”.
